Orange or Black — which should you run? +
Same glove, same thickness, same texture. The color is a working decision, not a preference.
| Black (IF88) | Orange (IF87) | |
|---|---|---|
| Hides grease & stains | ✓ | ✕ |
| Visible in a dark engine bay | ✕ | ✓ |
| Spot a tear against fluid | Harder | Immediate |
| Professional look on customer jobs | ✓ | Loud |
| Sizes available | S – XXL | S – XXL |
Run Black if you're in front of customers — mobile mechanics, HVAC service calls, plumbing, anything where a stained glove reads as sloppy. Black stays looking clean through a full job.
Run Orange if you work in low light or around fluids. High visibility means you can see your hands in a dark engine compartment, and you catch a tear the moment it happens instead of after.
A lot of shops run both. Orange in the bay, black for anything customer-facing.
Why 8 mil beats a standard glove +
| 8 Mil Diamond | Standard 4–5 Mil | |
|---|---|---|
| Fingertip thickness | 9 – 10 mil | 4 – 5 mil |

| Grip texture | Raised diamond | Smooth or light stipple |
| Grip in oil & hydraulic fluid | ✓ | Slips |
| Survives a full shift | ✓ | Multiple changes |
| Beaded cuff | ✓ | Often thin or unformed |
| Sizes | S – XXL | Usually S – XL |
Nearly triple the material. At 8.5 grams per glove this carries roughly double to triple the nitrile of a standard exam glove, and the fingertips — where you actually contact sharp edges — measure 9 to 10 mil. Wire, sheet metal, threaded fittings, and hose clamps go through a 5 mil glove in minutes. This holds.
The texture is the whole product. Most gloves marketed as "textured" have a light surface stipple that does nothing once your hands are wet. This uses a raised diamond pattern — the ridges physically channel fluid away so the glove keeps contact with what you're holding. That's the difference between gripping a wrench and chasing it across the bay floor.
Beaded cuff. A rolled, reinforced edge that resists tearing when you pull the glove on and stops it rolling down your wrist mid-job. It's a manufacturing step that costs money and it's the first thing cut on a commodity glove.
One glove instead of four. Crews running thin gloves burn through them all shift. A thicker glove that lasts the job is cheaper per hour even at a higher price per box, and you stop losing time on glove changes.
Zero latex proteins. Better chemical resistance than natural rubber latex, and no allergy risk for anyone on your crew.
Who uses these +
Auto & diesel mechanics. The core buyer. Oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid — the raised diamond keeps your hands on the tool instead of sliding off it.
Plumbing & HVAC. Threaded pipe, sharp fittings, refrigerant lines, standing water. A 5 mil glove doesn't survive a rough-in. This does.
Towing & roadside. Winch cable, chains, wheel work, cold hands. High-vis orange helps when you're working traffic-side at night.
Construction & demolition. Puncture and abrasion resistance where you're handling rebar, framing, and debris all day.
Metal fabrication & heavy machinery. Cutting oil, swarf, hot handling. Grip matters more than fine dexterity here, and that's the trade this glove makes.
Septic, waste & restoration. Maximum barrier, minimal tearing, and a cuff that doesn't roll when you're gloving up all day.
Landscaping & road maintenance. Outdoor work, weather, equipment, and fuel. Orange is the pick anywhere visibility is a safety factor.
Size guide +
Measure around your palm at the widest point, not including your thumb.
| Size | Palm circumference | Part # |
|---|---|---|
| S | 6.5" – 7.5" | 87S / 88S |
| M | 7.5" – 8.5" | 87M / 88M |
| L | 8.5" – 9.5" | 87L / 88L |
| XL | 9.5" – 10.5" | 87XL / 88XL |
| XXL | 10.5" + | 87XXL / 88XXL |
Between sizes? Size up. A glove this heavy feels tighter than a thin one at the same nominal size. Slightly loose beats fighting your hand for ten hours.
Stocking a shop? Most crews land around 35% Large, 30% XL, 20% Medium, 10% XXL, 5% Small. Trades run a full size larger than the general population.
Full range in stock. S through XXL in both colors — no gaps, so you can outfit an entire crew from one order.

Common questions +
Why does the spec sheet say 9–10 mil if you call it 8 mil?
Because they measure different spots. The 9 to 10 mil figure is fingertip thickness — the raised diamond texture adds height there. The industry names gloves by palm thickness, which is where the 8 mil comes from. Either way, you're getting more material than a standard glove at every point.
Are these medical or exam gloves?
No. These are industrial, multi-purpose, non-sterile gloves built for trades work. If you need a certified medical exam glove, look at our Unigloves Pearl range.
Orange or Black — does it change the glove?
Not at all. Identical thickness, texture, cuff, and material. Black hides stains and looks clean on customer-facing work. Orange is high-visibility for dark engine bays and roadside work.
Is this the thickest glove you carry?
Yes. At 8.5 grams per glove and 9 to 10 mil at the fingertips, this is the heaviest disposable nitrile in our lineup.
Will these hold up to oil and brake fluid?
Yes. Nitrile handles oils, greases, and most shop chemicals better than natural rubber latex. Nitrile is not the right choice for pure acetone, MEK, or strong oxidizing acids — check a chemical resistance chart for anything aggressive.
Do they contain latex?
No. 100% nitrile, no natural rubber latex proteins, no allergy risk.
Do you carry XXL?
Yes — full run from S through XXL in both colors.
How fast do you ship?
Within 24 hours. Free shipping anywhere in the USA, free local delivery in LA County and Houston.
